The Diocese

Walberton and Binsted CE Primary School is a Church of England Voluntary Controlled primary school. As part of our distinctive Christian character, we are proud to work in partnership with the Diocese of Chichester. The Diocese helps to support and guide the school’s Christian vision, with foundation members appointed to the Governing Body to help preserve and develop our church school ethos.

St. Mary’s Church

As a Church of England school we work closely with St Mary’s Church in our local parish, holding services there every term and participating in some of the special festivals during the Church year.  Our Reverend, Tim Ward, also regularly visits our school and leads collective worship.

 St Mary’s Church has 11th-century origins which are now mostly hidden behind extensive restoration work undertaken since the 18th century.  Some Saxon-era fragments still remain, and reused Roman building materials can even be seen in the walls.
